SS #001
Hiya. And welcome to SUNDAY SCARIES. I’ve been busy building out this site and it’s been a fun project and a lovely distraction from the heaviness of the days. I hope you enjoy exploring these pages and I look forward to sharing more delicious content with you. I’m sure the format of these posts will evolve over time, but this seems like a good way to kick things off.
Some music I’m obsessed with this week:

Film recommendation of the week:
This is my favorite queer film (and one of my all time favorite films in general). Fun fact: I DM’d Francis Lee (director) and requested the word “faggot” in his handwriting for a future tattoo I have planned. He responded with four different versions of the word in his handwriting. *GASP* I am a big fan of reclaiming the power of this word, and the juse of it in this film is perfect. Initially flung as an insult and later in the film, evolved into an endearing and flirtatious ploy. If you haven’t seen it yet, I can’t recommend it highly enough. It is one that I’ve returned to over a dozen times. And the use of Patrick Wolf’s track “The Days” at the end is…oof.
Show recommendation of the week:
Anyone who knows me knows that to say that The OA is my favorite show is the understatement of the century. As cliché as it may sound, this show changed my life. Viewing it was one of the most spiritual experiences I've ever had. After walking away from religion many years ago, the idea of spirituality outside of religion was still something that I struggled with. But Brit and Zal made me believe in magic again with this masterpiece. Sadly, Netflix canceled the show after two parts (the show was mapped out to span five parts). We may never know where the story ends, but there's something mystical about the journey regardless.
